Bodywork with Naomi Brooks — Roots of the Earth

Kahuna Bodywork is a flowing Polynesian style of massage using the hands, forearms and elbows in long, rhythmic movements across the body.

My sessions are a little different. I offer Kahuna as a Temple style bodywork journey and 1:1 ceremony, bringing together flowing Kahuna massage, deep tissue and fascial release, energy work and ceremonial practice.

Each session meets you where you are.

Sometimes the body needs softness, nurturing touch and long, restful flowing movements. Other times we go deeper, working into areas of tension and the fascia to help release what has been held in the body for a long time.

There is no set formula. We listen to the body and allow the session to become exactly what you might need at the time.

About the Session

We begin with time to arrive, talk about what is present for you and set an intention for the journey.

From there, I open the ceremonial space and we move into the bodywork.

Kahuna uses continuous, rhythmic movements across the body, often moving between different areas rather than working one section at a time. This creates a beautiful sense of flow and can allow the mind to become very quiet while the body begins to soften.

I also draw on my experience with deep tissue release and work intuitively with areas of restriction through the muscles and fascia. This can be slow, deep and focused where the body is asking for it, before returning again to the flowing rhythm of Kahuna.

Depending on the session, I may also weave in:

🪶 Smoke cleansing with sage, Palo Santo or rosemary
🪶 Ceremonial cacao or Blue Lily
🪶 Reiki and crystal healing
🪶 Shamanic drumming, sound and energetic work
🪶 Breath, ritual and guided journeying

Not everything needs to be included. The ceremony is shaped around you and what feels appropriate on the day.

You might leave feeling deeply rested and soft, or you may experience a much deeper physical or emotional release. Every journey is different.

About Your Facilitator

Naomi Brooks
@roots.of.the.earth.healing

Naomi is trained to Level 5 in Kahuna Bodywork through Mette’s Institute in Australia, alongside my work as a Shamanic Practitioner, Reiki Master and ceremonial facilitator. I also have experience in deep tissue work, Zen Thai Shiatsu & years of giving & receiving bodywork.

Over the years, my bodywork and ceremonial practices have naturally woven together.

This is not intended to be a traditional Kahuna massage experience. It is my own Temple style of practice, grounded in my Kahuna training while drawing on years of deep tissue, energetic and ceremonial work.

My intention is to create a space where you feel safe enough to soften, receive and let your body lead.

About All Our Group Offerings

Cacao

Cacao (Theobroma cacao) is a sacred plant medicine from Central and South America, traditionally used in ceremony to open the heart, uplift the spirit, and deepen connection.

Unlike common chocolate, ceremonial cacao is a pure raw food, and retains its natural theobromine content — a gentle cardiovascular stimulant that increases blood flow and releases feel-good neurochemicals.

Cacao is not psychoactive but can create a warm, euphoric, heart-centred state when consumed intentionally.

If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or taking antidepressant medication, please let us know — we can serve you a half dose or herbal alternative.

Hapé (Rapé) — Sacred Tobacco Snuff

Hapé (pronounced ha-PAY) is a sacred shamanic snuff made from finely ground Amazonian tobacco (mapacho) and medicinal herbs.

Traditionally used by Indigenous tribes of Brazil and Peru, it’s a purification medicine that helps to clear the mind, ground the energy, and bring presence to the body.

In our ceremonies, hape is always optional and served in reverence. It can induce a short, grounding experience that may include mild physical effects (tingling, light dizziness, or clearing through the nose/throat).

Not suitable for those who are pregnant, have severe hypertension, or are highly sensitive to tobacco.

Breathwork / Bodywork / Massage

Some events may include breathwork, sound healing, or light touch (massage/bodywork) as part of the journey.

All touch is consensual, trauma-informed, and energetically respectful.

Breathwork can evoke strong physical or emotional releases — please inform facilitators beforehand if you have any physical or mental health concerns such as PTSD, cardiovascular issues, pregnancy, epilepsy, or recent surgery.

Shamanic Drum Journey

A drum journey is an ancient meditative practice used across many cultures to access altered states of awareness through rhythmic drumming.

The steady beat helps the brain shift into theta waves, a state of deep relaxation and intuitive insight.

In this state, you may receive visions, sensations, or symbolic guidance. There is no “right” way to journey — simply lie back, breathe, and let the sound carry you.

Sound Healing

Sound healing uses sacred instruments such as didgeridoo, crystal and Tibetan singing bowls, chimes, and rattles to harmonize the energy body.

These frequencies invite the mind into stillness, allowing the nervous system to recalibrate and the body to release tension.

You may feel vibrations moving through your body, experience warmth, tingling, or emotional release.

There’s no need to “do” anything — simply breathe, receive, and let the sound wash through you.

Accupressure

Acupressure and acupuncture are ancient healing arts that work with the body’s energy meridians to restore flow, relieve tension, and bring balance to the internal organs and emotions.

Gentle pressure (or in some sessions, fine sterile needles) is applied to specific points to release blockages and support the natural self-healing process.

You may feel subtle pulses, warmth, or energy shifts as circulation and chi begin to move.

These sensations are a sign the body is rebalancing — relax and allow the process to unfold.
